Obituary of Joyce Bell
Joyce Elaine Bell, 90, of 35 Riverside Drive, Canton, died the morning of January 9, 2017 after brief stay.
Memorial services will be Saturday, June 17th at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Canton with Rev. Michael P. Catanzaro officiating.
Joyce was born June 15, 1926, in the town of Potsdam, a daughter of the late, Mahlon H. & Daisy (Howard) Moore. She was a graduate of Potsdam High School.
On November 2, 1943, she married Joseph William "Bill" Howard Bell in New London, CT and shortly after became the bookkeeper for Bell's Garage in Canton. A job she kept for over fifty years.
Surviving are her two sons, Kirk Bell of Canton and Rance (Leslie) Bell of Canton and N. Carolina; five grandchildren, Denyea Wilms, Kirk Bell, II, William "BJ" Bell, Kerry-Jo Furgison and Natasha Bell; eight great-grandchildren, Megan, Nate, Kelly, and Mindy Mae Wilms and Karis Bell and Kristine and Patrick Furgison; two nieces JoAnn Scott and Judy Ruddy; and close friend Janice Finley. She was predeceased by her husband "Bill" in August 1991, two infant daughters and her companion "Bob" Ferguson.
Joyce was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canton, where she was involved in the Post Script Club, the Church Newsletter, the Church Bazaar making cookies, the Prayer List and Church Dinners in the Fellowship Hall.
She enjoyed going for car rides (not in a convertible, however), crossword puzzles, watching the Lawrence Welk Show and Dancing with the Stars, cooking, getting her hair done, caring for her family and going out to eat.
